Getting ready to reopen …..Mark Barham from Pierrots Stationers

Pierrot Stationers

Along with other retailers in Felixstowe we have been closed since 23rd March and it has been a very strange time to see not only my shop, but so many other shops closed during what would have been a normal working day.

The announcement that we may be able to open from Monday 15th June has focused our thought process on how we might be able to open our shop safely.  As with all shops we have been looking at how we can open safely for not only our staff, but for our customers.

We have decided that the best way to protect everyone is to allow 1 customer in to the shop at a time, but we will change the layout of the shop so customers will  not be able to browse.  The shop will be blocked off so customers will only be able to walk to the counter, which will have a large screen set-up to protect everyone.  We will then serve the customer by getting the items they need, this way we feel we are protecting customers from touching items that may well have been touched by someone else earlier in the day.

Our revised opening hours are likely to start with 10.00am to 2.00pm Tuesday to Saturday, with our first day open to be Tuesday 16th June, subject to confirmation from the Government nearer the time.

A new service we are going to trial from Tuesday 2nd June is Home Delivery.  Our aim is to deliver on Tuesday & Friday afternoons free of charge with a minimum order value of just £15.  Customers can email or phone through their contact details and we will call them back to go through the items they require and take payment details over the phone.  Deliveries will be available for all of Felixstowe & The Trimley’s.  We will have an answerphone message set-up so people can leave a message with contact details even if we are busy serving customers or if they ring when we are closed.
