Extension to the Temporary Pedestrianisation of Hamilton Road Shared Space

Felixstowe Forward & Felixstowe Town Council asked the general public for their views on the temporary pedestrianisation of Hamilton Road shared space, one of the measures they took in  response to opening the high street safely during the current situation.  With the traffic restrictions in place people could more easily observe social distancing rules and enjoy a more relaxing experience of Felixstowe’s Town Centre.

To summarise:

              85% would like to see the Temporary pedestrianisation extended

              78% agree with the current arrangements

              75% agree that they feel safer

              72% would like a permanent pedestrianisation scheme

A business survey was also undertaken to ascertain the views of the businesses on Hamilton Road Shared Space.  

              94% would like to see the Temporary pedestrianisation extended

80% agree with the current arrangements

80% think their customers feel safer

68% would like to see pedestrianisation permanent

These temporary measures have now been extended for 18 months.
