Breakfast at the Brook Hotel with Darryl James from Felixstowe Academy

The Chamber’s schools project took a big step forward at the July Breakfast when the Felixstowe Academy’s Head of 6th Form, Darryl James spelt out some of its plans to ensure the school improved in the near to medium-term future, as well as some of the challenges it was facing.

These include focusing more on business studies and enthusing pupils, as well as preparing them to face up to the realities of work when they have completed their school careers.

Mr James welcomed efforts by the chamber to help with mentoring and advising students, or even just discussing the various job prospects available to them, as well as helping with the new business study courses.

He pointed out that the school’s latest Ofsted monitoring inspection had found evidence of improvement and  the school was keen to continue to build on this.

Any Chamber members who want to join in this project, which is also being supported by Josie Finch, of the Careers & Enterprise Company and Enterprise Advisory Network, should contact our business officer, Corrine Franklin, as soon as possible.
