The tour of the Port of Felixstowe

The Chamber’s fascinating tour of the 345 hectare Felixstowe Port site, which was conducted by Martin Woor, senior manager strategic rail, at Hutchinson Ports, was enjoyed by more than 20 members and some guests.

The tour included close-up views of all the new facilities at the port, including two of the world’s largest remote controlled ship to shore cranes for mega ships at the new Berths 8 and 9, which can handle two of the world’s largest container ships at the same time. We also saw all the latest rail handling facilities which cater for up to 66 rail movements a day.

Facts and figures about the port’s activities and the efforts it is putting into recycling and protecting the environment are available if desired. Please contact Roger Abbott, or Corrine Franklin.
