Chair of Felixstowe Chamber, Paul Borroughs, reflects on the past six months and the successes and developments of the new Committee:
“Like many businesses and organisations, the Felixstowe Chamber suffered from the ‘Great Resignation’ (A.K.A. ‘Big Quit’/’Great Reshuffle’) that is still affecting our country, Felixstowe and our Felixstowe Chamber.
“We’ve spent most of our efforts in the first half of our financial year rebuilding our Committee, members, modernising our operation and establishing a base in the town centre (we’re in @Inc. Felixstowe at 87 Hamilton Road nearly every Monday and Thursday morning,) so we’re easier to approach.
“This rebuilding has distracted temporarily from our mission to take on projects, as we have for over a century. A few examples of these include working with retail to install town centre and seaside CCTV, working with tourism and leisure to establish Visit Felixstowe, and more recently, working with Town and District Councils to establish a business hub – @Inc. Felixstowe by MENTA.
“But we’re now in a much healthier position, with record-beating membership – encouragingly, a lot of new members – a new Committee team of seven, and we’ve organised some very successful and well-attended business networking events; breakfasts and soirées, with inspirational speakers and members and guests from all sectors. New friendships and business partnerships have been forged.
“The future continues to look unpredictable, challenging, and likely to be tough for many businesses and individuals for years to come. But, at Felixstowe Chamber, we are in a strong position to be able to grow our membership, enhance our Committee with even more business acumen and expertise, and to increase our value offering to our members and our town.
“Above all, we remain committed to developing innovative ideas and projects to ensure that we are as useful and supportive of Felixstowe’s vibrant business community as we can be.”
