We welcomed a lively crowd to Felixstowe Lawn Tennis Club (FLTC) on the evening of 14th June for our ‘Media Showcase’, where we heard from a selection of our local media partners – Laura Locke of Felixstowe Radio, Barry Garnham of Fresh Gold Radio and Bernadette Mooney of PLMR Genesis – all in the glorious sunshine and stunning surroundings of one of the town’s most historic locations.
As well as learning more about the media opportunities available on our doorstep, we also got a chance to network and pick up useful tips on how to promote our businesses from the experts!
Thanks to FLTC for their kind hospitality and to Felixstowe’s Fred. Olsen Travel for treating us to delicious strawberries and cream – just like our very own Wimbledon!
Laura, who hosts her own Friday morning show on Felixstowe Radio, ‘Laura Unlocked’, said:
“I had a fabulous evening at the Chamber’s Summer Soiree tonight – what a friendly bunch of people and so responsive.
“Felixstowe Radio has been with us in Felixstowe since 2009. It is totally immersed in the local community, and the opportunity to talk to professionals and entrepreneurs about my passion for radio was great!”
Barry commented:
“I was pleased to be invited to the Felixstowe Chamber of Commerce soirée, held at the superb Lawn Tennis venue.
“I was representing Fresh Gold Radio, a 24hr online radio station. Playing classics from our studios to a global community!”
Bernadette added:
“The Media Showcase was a really lovely event in the wonderful surroundings of the Felixstowe Lawn Tennis Club. I was delighted to be able to share with Felixstowe Chamber members all about PLMR Genesis and our free, one-hour media training taster event next month.
“As an integrated PR and Digital Marketing agency, we offer a range of services all under one roof, across a range of sectors. We work with clients to realise their ambitions and to achieve commercial growth.”
Jacqueline Cumiskey of Ipswich Borough Council said:
“What a lovely evening in wonderful surroundings. It has been great to catch up with lots of influential business people and to hear about opportunities around getting involved in local radio, learning new technical skills and presentation techniques. I am so looking forward to the number of Chamber events coming up!”
Felixstowe Chamber Chair Paul Borroughs also announced the exciting news that we will be hosting our Charity Ball at The Orwell Hotel on Saturday 16th September, in aid of Sadie Ray. It promises to be a spectacular evening, with a Las Vegas theme – tickets will go on sale soon!
Our next networking event will be another Soirée at The Wine Boutique on 11th July, which is bound to be the usual sell-out!
