Cheese, wine and business chat!

The newly-formed Chamber Committee hosted its first networking event on the evening of Tuesday 10th May, at The Little Wine Bar in Walton. We were delighted that so many members and non-members joined us to celebrate this bustling new business venture in our town, and thanks to owner Deborah Mcglynn-Hale for making us all so welcome.

Over the delicious cheese and wine – generously sponsored by Zygo Ltd – we were able to learn more about what makes the Felixstowe business community so vibrant and resilient, and our Chair Paul Borroughs reminded the 30+ guests of the importance of coming together at social events such as this and sharing our knowledge and experiences. The Committee is also planning a lively programme of networking events for the year ahead – more news to follow!

We were also pleased to introduce our new Treasurer, Murray Oliver, who many may know from his local Felixstowe company, Oliver Legal Solicitors. The Chamber will benefit hugely from Murray’s financial insight and acumen, and we appreciate him putting himself forward for this pivotal role on the Committee.

At the event, we were also pleased to announce our new Platinum Member, 1 to 1 Transport, who have recognised the value in joining our growing business network at the highest level. A very warm welcome to Director Matt Claxton and the team.

Also in attendance was long-standing supporter and Gold member, David Button, of David Button Independent Funeral Directors in Walton, who shared his perspective on why he finds the Chamber so valuable to his business:

“From the very first moment I set up the funeral home, I knew it was vital for me to help work with and support the community we live in. I looked at various ways in which to do this and I also wished to gain the right exposure for my business; with this in mind, I approached the Felixstowe Chamber.

“Attending the breakfasts and events that the Chamber put on was invaluable to me. I gained vital business contacts, made new friends and was able to take advantage of what being a Chamber member brought. And I continue to carry this on some seven years later.”

Thanks also to our other new Gold Members:
