One of our Felixstowe Chamber Silver members, C&S Warehousing, very kindly stored some E-Cargo bikes in their warehouse, in preparation for the recent ‘The Way to Go’ Chamber event at Felixstowe Museum. Chris Grover, Active Travel Officer in the Department of Growth, Highways and Infrastructure for Suffolk County Council, asked if they could be stored and delivered to the event.
The theme of the evening was around sustainable transport solutions and using E-Cargo bikes to access the last-mile for urban parcel delivery, as well as other options for these great bikes. Chris also talked about the ‘Cycle to Work Scheme’ and the benefits for business, with staff being more active and healthy; reducing sickness and improving mental health and wellbeing by cycling to work, over driving in cars and vans.
With Andy Proctor storing the E-Cargo bikes in the C&S Warehousing 88 Shed warehouse on the Port of Felixstowe, he had access to do a review of the benefits of using an E-Cargo bike instead of the van for a local run to the shops.
Chris was keen to see Andy and the staff at C&S Warehousing using the bikes and getting benefits from them, so Andy did a video review and uploaded it to YouTube. Instead of taking their large transit van, he opted for the E-Cargo bike as an alternative – you can see his findings here:
Andy enjoyed himself and returned from the local supermarket a hero, with sausage rolls and all the supplies they needed!
You can see that Andy genuinely enjoyed himself, without much effort in cycling quite a large bike, and we are very grateful to him and the C&S Warehousing team for their help with storage, delivery and collection of the E-Cargo bikes on the night, as well as the entertaining video that he has created!
