Have you ever wondered about the people and personalities behind Felixstowe Chamber of Commerce? Who is influencing the decisions? What motivates them? And why our town?
In this series, we will be asking the Chamber Committee a few facts about themselves, so that you get to know us all a little bit better!
This time, we are sitting down with Leanne Gittins, a resident of Kirton, who joined the Committee in Summer 2022 with responsibility for ‘Employment and Human Resources‘, and has recently set up LME Recruitment.
So, Leanne, why have you joined Felixstowe Chamber of Commerce?
When I met the team, and heard all about the way in which they bring the community together – through regular events, seminars, training and supporting local charities – I just had to sign up!
The team is diverse, friendly and passionate, providing a link to both the Suffolk and British Chambers…for a small town, we are mighty. (Rather a rare breed, I would say!)
What would you suggest as the key strengths of the Chamber?
The Chamber is inclusive and brings people together. It supports all local interests and is focussed on providing something for everyone that joins.
It’s the people that make it what it is, always looking to evolve, with a positive outlook.
Describe yourself in three words…
Passionate, motivated and adaptable.
Aside from the Chamber, what other interests do you have?
I have strong connections with Brave Futures, a Suffolk and Norfolk-based charity that works with children who are sexually abused, providing a safe place for children and young people to make sense of the confusion they feel. They give children and young people the skills and tools they need to re-build their futures, manage the trauma they have experienced and help them move from victim to survivor.
What do you like most about Felixstowe?
Felixstowe is a charming seaside town, with a vibrant town centre, wonderful mix of attractions and activities to suit all ages and interests…and best of all, a community that really cares!
