Learnings at Landguard – a great first Networking Breakfast of 2022!

We would like to thank everyone who joined us at our first Networking Breakfast of 2022, held at The View Point Cafe at Landguard Peninsula this morning.

Paul Borroughs, Chair of Felixstowe Chamber of Trade and Commerce, commented:

“Dr. Alex Perry, STEM Engagement Coordinator for Norfolk and Suffolk, gave us all a great talk, covering some interesting points and making it relevant to everyone. For example, during the after-speech questions, Coastside Fitness enquired how STEM would could be beneficial to a business like theirs, to which Alex was able to point out the science of nutrition and the maths of calculating calories burnt and consumed. Alex then did the same for port-related businesses, serving to show how STEM is relevant to all businesses and industries. I believe that everyone came away positively wiser.

“And the same applies to Xavier Norte, Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form at Felixstowe School, for a great speech. He reminded everyone that work experience placement can be any time of the year and that those interested should get in contact to support our School.

“The great take-away from this kind of Chamber event is that our excellent speakers, their respective organisations and all of our guests will benefit from coming along. The people I got to speak to were encouraged to get involved; possibly working with STEMPOINT East, or taking on work experience placements from Felixstowe School. And I expect that the conversation will continue with their peers, colleagues and friends, and I’m sure that many seeds will have been sown.

“I shall conclude that it was a great success – thanks to the View Point Cafe for a delicious breakfast! – and we’re hungry to bring you even more fun and influential networking events soon…watch this space!”
